Tyler’s practice focuses upon employment law and corporate and business law.
In his employment law work, Tyler has advised hundreds of clients in a wide variety of employment law situations. He has successfully obtained six-figure judgments against some of Alberta’s largest employers.
Tyler’s work in corporate law includes advising a variety of diverse clientele, including private investors, insurance agencies, medical professionals, and professional engineering firms. He has extensive experience in buying and selling private businesses as well as commercial real estate transactions. Since 2018 Tyler has advised numerous clients in selling over 1,000 acres of prime development land in the greater South Edmonton region. He has recently advised a client in what is believed to be the largest recorded sale of residential development land measured by acreage in the Edmonton region to a private developer.
Tyler also has significant experience in residential real estate transactions, wills and estate matters, and guardianship and trusteeship applications which were developed during his early years of practice at the firm.
His courtroom experience focuses primarily upon employment litigation. He has represented clients in adjudications under the Canada Labour Code and before both the Albera Court of Justice and the Alberta Court of King’s Bench.
Tyler has been active in the Canadian Bar Association, having previously held the position of Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Real Property Law Section for Northern Alberta.
In his free time Tyler enjoys reading on a variety of subjects and is an undaunted Edmonton Oilers fan.
Tyler has previously volunteered for a number of years with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and was a member of the board of Selections Career Support Services (2011-2013). He is currently the head coach of his son’s U9 hockey team.
